Every kid wanted to be a Power Ranger. There was no question; when it came time for recess, chances are you picked your favorite ranger and ran around the playground chasing imaginary putties and pretending to assemble the Megazord. For kids, though, it could only be imaginary. A kid can’t be a Power Ranger, can he? The answer is yes, yes he can.

Blake Foster Morphing

When Steve Cardenas left the show, his replacement came in the unlikely form of Blake Foster, a twelve year old boy who was discovered by one of the heads of Saban Entertainment, the company responsible for Power Rangers. He became the first pre-teen ranger, and to be honest, our pre-teen selves are a little jealous. As if that weren’t cool enough, Blake was already an accomplished martial artist before he was on the show, so every kick, flip, and punch you see is all Blake, no stunt doubles.

Except in the suit, obviously.

If you saw Blake Foster today, though, you’d hardly recognize him. Now 28 years old, the former Blue Turbo Ranger has grown up quite a bit since his days on the show. He still loves talking about the experience, though, and he still loves spending time with his former cast mates. At Lexington Comic and Toy Convention 2014, we had a chance to talk with Blake about how he was chosen to be on the show, what he’s up to these days, and if he’d like to return to the show to reprise his role. We’ll say this: he is as cool as you’d hope he’d be. As soon as we started talking with him, it became obvious that he’s not just a Power Rangers actor; he’s also a fan. He seemed just as eager to talk about Power Rangers as we were!

As if that weren’t enough, we learned that not only does he still like Power Rangers, but he also goes out of his way to interact with his fans, even going above and beyond what you’d expect. When the father of a fan contacted Blake and asked him to attend his son’s birthday party, Blake worked out all of the arrangements then showed up in costume! …and awesomer still, the lucky birthday boy got to wear the Blue Turbo Ranger’s helmet!

Gracious as he is, Blake even performed his morphing call for us, which echoed through the convention center and drew cheers from onlookers, both fans and fellow ranger actors alike. Shift into turbo and check out our video interview with the Blue Turbo Ranger himself! Stick around to the end to hear him morph into action! Also, keep an eye out for a special cameo from Azim Rizk, the current Megaforce Black/Super Megaforce Green Ranger!

Thanks for chatting with us, Blake! You’re turbonomenal (that doesn’t quite work like morphenomenal, does it?)!
