Nintendo’s Greatest Hits: E3 Edition

I’m a huge Nintendo fan. Around the office, when E3 time draws near, my coworkers start checking in. What time is the Nintendo presentation? How am I going to watch it? And throughout and after the presentation, the questions continue. What did they announce? What am I the most excited about? Well, it’s that time of year again, and honestly, Nintendo continues to knock it out of the park. Forget “winning” or “losing” E3. Much like a battle between Marvel and DC, when the big-time video game companies come to blows, everyone wins. That doesn’t stop me from picking Nintendo as my console of choice, though, so that’s where this article will focus. Even without Reggie, there was still plenty to get excited about. What did Nintendo do to win our hearts and dollars this year? Keep reading to find out.

To be honest, I was expecting most of the things that excited me. We sort of knew that “The Hero” from Dragon Quest was coming to Smash. We knew about Luigi’s Mansion 3.

Then Nintendo hit us with the old one-two punch.

1. BANJO KAZOOIE IN SUPER SMASH BROS ULTIMATE

Nintendo is the best at trolling, and that trailer was a perfect example. The trailer showed us Banjo then took him away then (thankfully) gave him back again. After much “will they won’t they” regarding the character, it was nice to see him (them?) finally confirmed. Does this mean a new game or a remaster? We can only hope, but having him in Smash is going to be enough for me right now.

2. The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is now in development

What is there to say about this other than a squeal of job and a fist pump? The game looks like the Majora’s Mask to BotW’s Ocarina of Time: darker and creepier. And what about Zelda exploring with Link? Could we finally get a character choice or even a co-op game? Regardless, I’m already clearing out space on my shelf for this game.

While Nintendo’s reveals were mostly predictable, these last two caught me off guard, and I can’t WAIT to see what they throw at us next!
