Commissioner Gordon to Have His Own Show!

With the release of ABC’s Marvel Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D, Fox, in an exclusive with Deadline, has announced their new show Gotham. In a bidding war, Fox landed the deal for the Warner Bros. TV-produced origin series written by Bruno Heller (The Mentalist) revolving around Commissioner Gordon from Batman.

The live action series will focus on Commissioner Gordon and “the villains who made Gotham City famous” during Gordon’s time as a detective for Gotham City Police Department and will take place before he meets Batman who will not be part of the series.  In an effort to show they mean business, Gotham will be released straight to series making it the second DC show currently on the networks.

With Arrow and the introduction of The Flash to the series it is possible The Flash could receive his own show giving DC three primetime slots.

  1. Cool! I wonder how much appeal this will have, due to the lack of Batman, but I am definitely interested. Will there be Batman-style villains or just a whole lot of organized crime?

Also, I just hope folks don’t get confused at the non-connection between this show and the potential Arrow/Flash-verse. And I’ll also throw it out there that I’m disappointed Arrow isn’t in the Smallville universe, since they spent 10 years building up some awesome mythology there. But then again, I have neglected to actually check out Arrow, so there’s that.
